Choya Red is a wine made from the combination of fresh ume juice with a small amount of sweet red wine.

The intense and rich character of the red wine combines very well with the fruity and fresh character of the ume fruit. The sweetness and tannins contained in the wine give fullness and depth to the taste. Made with 100% Japanese ume. Choya Silver Red is a traditional Japanese red wine fruit liqueur. It is best enjoyed on the rocks as an aperitif or in a cocktail. In 1924, Sumitaro Kondo founded the Choya Umeshu Co., a company located in Habikino, Osaka, Japan, which would specialize in the production and sale of umeshu plum liquor. Umeshu is a traditional Japanese liquor made from the ume fruit. This balance between ume extract and alcohol is achieved by ripening the whole fruit, with the stone still inside. The delicious flavor of Umeshu comes from the citric acid in the fruit. Umeshu also contains malic and succinic acids. It is this process that gives Choya Umeshu its unique fruity aroma, with hints of almond and marzipan.
